Almost every feature of this loudspeaker is a new development, starting with the complex casing design made of multi-laminated moulded wood. Although this loudspeaker has a long, folded transmission line and two 22 cm bass drive units with carbon fibre cones, it still manages to look slim and elegant. There are no flat surfaces in the cabinet, and this ensures that the carcase is impressively rigid and virtually resonance-free. For this reason the bass response extends even lower and is amazingly clean and dry. The mid-range unit is also a new development: its featherlight stiffly mounted cone is combined with an extremely large coil, endowing the whole mid-range area with a peerlessly clean, dynamic quality.
However, the real key to this impressive loudspeaker is the treble unit. An electrostatic device is employed in this role. The mass of the electrostat’s membrane is virtually zero, and its full area is driven by a homogeneous force field.
The TCI 2 E includes level adjustors for the treble, mid-range and bass, and completely separate FSR crossover units for bass and mid-range with separate terminals.
