T+A systems - and not only the surround systems - are very often operated in conjunction with high-quality flat-screen televisions. Naturally it is very convenient if the essential functions of the whole system - i.e. including the TV set - can be controlled using the T+A remote control handset, avoiding the need to fiddle about with several "remotes".
Thankfully the two renowned German manufacturers Loewe and Metz produce interfaces for controlling their later TVs, and T+A has developed appropriate software for the K2 DVD receivers and R-series control units.
The software converts T+A commands into TV control commands, and also passes information from the TV set to the T+A system. The net result is that the entire A/V system can be operated very conveniently and extremely simply using just one handset.
The television is bound into the control system in the same way as a T+A source device, and all its functions can be operated using the T+A F6 (a) remote control handset. No longer do you need to use multiple remote control handsets. The system does more than just controlling the TV remotely: it also relieves the user of many complex operating processes. For example, the television is switched on automatically as soon as it is required to display a picture, and automatically switched off again when it is no longer required. The system also manages all the signal paths, automatically generates the correct connections for video and audio signals, and selects the optimum picture and sound format for each combina-tion, thereby ensuring a perfect experience in picture and sound.Loewe and Metz TV sets are connected to the K2 using a TV control lead with RS 232 connectors, available from T+A as an optional accessory. For R-series equipment the L-T interface is required for Loewe sets, and the M-T interface for Metz units.
